   El drago de Icod es, sin duda, uno de los símbolos emblemáticos de la isla de Tenerife. Su rareza, su extrañeza, pero sobre todo su imponente planta, no deja indiferente a nadie que lo observe. Ha sido venerado por los antiguos pobladores aborígenes de la isla: los guanches, y durante siglos fue centro de leyendas y supercherías.

   Científicamente es reconocida su longevidad de más de 1000 años, lo que lo convierten, sin duda, en un endemismo que ha sido testigo mudo de distintos momentos históricos de esta tierra isleña. Icod es el municipio sobre el que asienta sus raíces este coloso de la naturaleza. 

   Las fotografías las tomé con una lente de 70 milímetros a unos 150 metros aproximadamente, en el linde de la carretera Tf - 82.
